Turning Pages: Reading to John
I read what I love, mostly classic short stories or essays, and contemporary work when I can get permission from the author. I used to read to my husband (hence the title); now that he’s long dead, I read to you. I read rapidly and omnivorously to myself but relish slowing down to savor the words aloud. I work at the Fairfax Library and have a blog on the Marin County Library website (location: Fairfax–Neshama’s Choices) in which I review 6 books a week. On the show, I often share these reviews along with samples from the books so I get to try out authors’ different voices. Once in a while I’ll slip in a personal story. I’ve been doing the show since 2001.
