This Friday the 16th of October we are having one of our periodic Community Happy Hour Hang Outs at the radio station (11431 State Route One, Suite 8) in Point Reyes Station. This is a great opportunity to check out the studios, say hi to some of the staff and have a sip and a snack. The event is 5 – 7 PM and there is no “program” other than to meet and greet and give tours of the station. Meet fellow KWMR listeners, and possibly a few programmers. Rob Richards is hosting “Happy Hour” on Friday. Hope to see you there.

KWMR is hiring a Development Associate as we move into the new future of public media in the USA. Work closely with the Executive Director (me) to cultivate donors, write grant applications and help raise much needed funds for KWMR. More information HERE. 

I had a really good conversation with Roy Pitts, the Coordinator for the Point Reyes Disaster Council that aired on “Epicenter.” You can listen to it HERE. We are acknowledging the Super El Nino and talking overall about resiliency and preparedness, something we should be doing regardless.

The birds are done nesting, and the rains have yet to arrive. This window of time is perfect for completing road work (have you noticed?). Build in some extra time for your trips OTH (over the hill). I will be glad to have turn pockets at Point Reyes Petaluma Road and Nicasio Valley Road. Good job Marin County!

And brrrr, the season is changing. It was a brisk ride to KWMR on Monday morning. The weather station read 38 degrees in Olema! And even though there was much hullabaloo about making Daylight Saving permanent, the Senate has not passed the needed legislation so we will be “falling back” on November 1.
