That is just a saying, but it holds some real merit. If you practice something regularly, you will likely improve your skill at it. I will use crossword puzzles as an example and not my guitar. I’m getting really good at crosswords because I am basically addicted to them. My nice guitar sits in its case awaiting the day I begin to take playing more seriously. 

So maybe none of us will be perfect in an emergency or disaster, but if we are prepared and have a plan we will likely be better off. Dontcha think?

I bet you are an ace at entering your “Royalty” number at the Palace Market. You do get some decent discounts. I use that as an example because they are having a Harvest Festival coming up on Sunday, October 4th from 11 AM – 3 PM in the parking lot and that freshly paved Wells Fargo lot next door. KWMR will be there!

Alert Marin is doing a test of their service on Saturday, September 26th at 10 AM, so don’t freak out when you get the alert. KWMR is piggybacking on the Alert Marin test to send out our second text ever of our Text Alert on that same day at 4 PM. Also don’t freak out at that. If you have not signed up for Alert Marin or KWMR’s Text Alerts you can still do so. It’s easy. 

Based on what climate scientists and meteorologists are predicting, we should use every tool at our disposal to be ready for the Super El Nino. Clear those gutters, get to know your neighbors, figure out who is the disaster council contact in your hood. Know where to get sand bags. Have an emergency crank or battery powered radio, and don’t forget that your car has a radio! But do NOT drive into flood waters.

Oh, and put this date on your calendar. Friday, October 16. KWMR is having one of our Community “Happy Hour” Hang Outs at the radio station at 11431 State Route One, Suite 8. We are on Mesa Road, just down from the Thrift Store and across from the Gas Station. It’s a fun time from 5 PM – 7 PM. Just swing in and say hi!
