Round Up: ”What They Said”

“What They Said”
⚡ April 14, 2026 ⚡
I really like this newsletter. It’s a collaborative effort with our team here at KWMR. People often ask me if I have trouble coming up with topics each week, and I say “rarely.” This place is NOT boring in the least. Sometimes it’s like working in a sitcom. Mostly it is just great. Programmers coming in and out to produce their shows, visitors popping in to check out the station.
Just this past weekend we had a lovely event with Jennifer Jewell and Rebecca Newburn. Thanks to everyone who came out and to Kathy Hunting with West Marin Climate Action for heading up the seed and seedling swap. Kathy also set me straight on the type of trees that are outside my office. They are in fact Kwanzan Cherries, and not flowering plums (what was I thinking?) What Kathy said!
If you subscribe to the Point Reyes Light (I recommend it) you are supporting local journalism, which is really important. In the Point Reyes Light last week the 8th grade essays from Lagunitas School were published. Micah Ager, who is a KWMR Programmer (Youth DJ) as well as KWMR’s current Youth Board Representative, had a wonderful essay about KWMR. You can read it HERE. What he said made my heart sing!
I am privileged to supervise the amazing team that works here at KWMR. In turn, the KWMR Board of Directors supervises me. KWMR has an engaged and caring Board of Directors, currently led by Nancy Vayhinger who is the KWMR Board President. Nancy hosts a classical music show on KWMR on the third Thursday of each month. I really enjoy working with Nancy. Our check-ins are frequent and always fruitful. She wrote this piece for our Annual Report (coming soon), but it is just too good to not share now. You can read it HERE. I love what Nancy said.
KWMR is a collection of community voices. You hear over 100 local voices on the airwaves bringing you information, and great tunes. A month or so ago Djimi Gonbonzofish did a show which included “Guilty Pleasure” songs on Megolamedia Melange. It was a super fun show. On Tuesday April 21 Djimi will do it again, and this time he will feature YOUR guilty pleasure songs. Submit yours HERE and tune in from 6:30 – 8:30 PM that Tuesday to hear your tune played on KWMR! What will you say?
We are starting our Annual Pledge Drive this coming Saturday! One per year, if we make our goal. Want to put a challenge grant on a show? You can click HERE to do that. I say, “Let’s do this thing!”
