Round Up: “Parachutes & Fog…”

“Parachutes & Fog…”
September 23, 2025
Monday was the first official day of fall. I don’t know about you, but this year is passing at an alarming rate. This is a beautiful time of year and we are getting some of that sunshine that was hidden beyond that lovely coastal fog all summer.
KWMR has some fun events planned in October including Parachute Days right here in Point Reyes Station on Sunday, October 12. A big thank you to Chris Giacomini and his family and stellar crew for hosting KWMR and Parachute Days. The event is happening right in the parking lot downtown.
The bands that will be performing are Geroge-ish Jones-like, Mariachi Lobos De Elsie Allen High School, and Good Friends . Good Friends will open the show, followed by Lobos De Elsie Allen High School, 20-piece mariachi band. George-ish Jones-like will close the show, complete with a two-step lesson.
Food offerings on sight include a Hog Island Oyster Bar, Point Reyes Mexican Grill, and Todd Baked Pizza. KWMR will be hosting the KWMbaR that will offer beverages including craft cocktails from Griffo Distillery and beer from Lagunitas Brewing Company and NA options.

There will be a community photo during the day as well! We hope that you can come out and join us for some music, fun, and food. Sliding scale tickets for adults start at $20 and will be sold at the gate only. Youth 12 – 18 are $10, and under 11 and under are free.
Bring a low folding chair, an appetite, your hat, sun screen, and a refillable water container and don’t forget your dancing shoes. If you are interested in volunteering during the event, let me know HERE. We have limited space for volunteers, but can use some good folks!
Gabe Korty, who won a grant from the Pirkle Jones Foundation, is putting on four concerts in West Marin. He is constructing a movable stage and his first concert is happening in Bolinas on Saturday, September 27th. Get details HERE.
It has been so heartening to see how much everyone cares about KWMR. So many of you stepped up at the first word that public media funding had been slashed. I know you will all be here with us as we navigate the future of KWMR. I really don’t know what the future holds, but I know that with our excellent staff and Board, as well as our stellar community of volunteer programmers, and our community partners, that we will all be on this ride together.
Please come out for the festivities on October 12th. Say hi and enjoy some community camaraderie together.
Thank you for your support!
Amanda Eichstaedt
KWMR Station Manager, Executive Director & Development

P.S.: KWMR Board Member Sharron Drake (Inverness Shakespeare and Sharron Drake Community Arts) is going to be showing “The Fog” at St. Columba’s the Friday before Parachute Days (10/10/25). Bring your snugglies and snacks to the amphitheater for a fun night of local cinema! It starts at 6 PM.
