Round Up: “Whew!”

From the less messy desk of Amanda Eichstaedt…
“Whew!”
May 20, 2025
I am finally feeling somewhat recovered from our herculean effort for the Pledge Drive and KWMR Day. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, showed up, and enjoyed KWMR Day, and for all the supportive businesses and individuals who donated to the raffle.
Alyssa Tanner and I both took last week off. A few more folks contributed to the Pledge Drive, and some checks were in the mail when I returned, bringing our total towards our $100,000 goal to $93,100. Pretty darn close. We’ll see if a few more donations roll in. We like making our goals at KWMR.
We are welcoming Sophia Buckholtz back as a summer intern at KWMR. Sophia served as a KWMR Youth Board Representative when she was at Redwood High School. She is currently attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Welcome back, Sophia!

If you know of anyone who is interested in learning about nonprofit governance, we have space on the KWMR Board for a Youth Board Representative. Responsibilities include attending board meetings and participating in conversations around how KWMR does things. Please email ME if you are interested or know someone who would enjoy this. It’s a great way to get community service credits and build up a college resume.
Meanwhile, our devoted volunteer programmers continue to bring excellent shows to the airwaves. I am so proud of everyone at this station!
I did get a chance to cruise up to Seattle to visit my family this past week and took a beautiful hike with my sister in the Cascades. Air travel is not my jam, but the Northwest is beautiful this time of year.

Hopefully we are back to business as usual for the summer here at KWMR. The looming threat of funding cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting is hanging out there. Dread is a horrible feeling. I don’t recommend it.
Now to get those Eton radios and KWMR license plate frames out to everyone. Hang tight. We’re working on it!
