Success!

I know you have all been on the edge of your seats or saddles out here in West Marin waiting to hear how the ultimate outcome of the KWMR database migration turned out. Really, is there anything else to pay attention to on this big blue marble we call home? And I thank those of you who have cried out “Go Database!” when you saw me out getting the mail.

You will be happy to know that despite a big national election, international strife, climate events to beat all climate events, and the sad passing of Kris Kristofferson, that we are on relatively solid footing at KWMR with ye olde database migration. Whew.

I send out all the best to our radio colleagues in the Southeastern United States who have suffered catastrophic damage to their equipment, and for those who have been the only means of public information in an area devastated by the recent hurricane. Hang in there!

And isn’t it always the final, or ongoing sticking point? Communication. How to ask the right questions to get the answers that you REALLY want to know? Those pesky queries are somewhat vexing, but the system is robust and once we/I learn the precise terminology and mapping, we should be good. Sounds like I’m in a relationship with the damned database!

Anyway, now you know. I am ready to put this past few months behind me and move on to other things, like October! How did we get into the 10th month of 2024 so quickly? It’s like someone turned up the pitch on the year. When you do that on a CD player in Studio A everyone starts to sound funny, and folks seem to sound the same to me. It’s a true head scratcher.

But we are not done with our adjustments to how we do things. A reminder that we will be switching up the newsletter mid-month, and we are not doing a fall pledge drive. So stay tuned for the newest iteration of end of year fundraising from your good pals down here at KWMR. And we do want your feedback as we step into unknown territory for your local, homegrown radio station.

In closing, I would like to wish Mark Butler a very happy birthday! And a big thank you to the Dance Palace for the delicious waffles!

Don’t be shy! We appreciate you!
