August, and….The Zine is here!
Remember back in May when we were just getting over the last rains, and KWMR was going all out for our 25th Anniversary? We had that super fun and successful Pledge Drive, with all the fun events culminating with a kick ass party at the Dance Palace? Yup, seems like ages ago now, doesn’t it?
KWMR turned 25 on May 2nd, but we are celebrating our 25th YEAR, so it’s still happening!
Well it actually was sort of a long time ago, and KWMR has held off sending out the Pledge Premiums (Eton radios, Zines, and some mugs) until we got the Zines, and now that we have them, we will be reaching out to anyone who pledged for an item and helping bring you, and your pledge premium, together! In fact, you may haver already heard from me!
It seems like yesterday that I was pulling out fresh weeds and lamenting that my jump on getting the flower beds weeded, was thwarted by late rains. In the blink of an eye, it seems, the naked ladies are coming up and blooming, their leaves, once lush, paper thin reminders that fall is on the horizon.

And school starts next week? I want to file a complaint! Shouldn’t it be a law that you can’t go back to school until after Labor Day? Sorry kids (and teachers).
So maybe you are wondering what took us so long to do the Zine? At KWMR we come up with some pretty outrageous ideas about things we want to do. Some of them are actually impossible to pull off, some are a stretch, but we do them anyway. Sometimes things don’t go so well, but a lot of the time, after discussing something, we figure out a way to make it work.
Jeff Manson, our illustrious and very talented (musician, artist, father, husband, gardener, cook, etc.) Program Director took the lead on the Zine. He collected the content and had an idea to print it locally. In the long run we got it printed commercially. And now it’s complete! Good job Jeff, and thank you to everyone who contributed content.
Zine!!
And now that we know how to do it, we may even do it again!
And this really is the sweetest part of summer. The blackberries and huckleberries are ripe, the bay is nice and warm, and if you miss the rain, just head up onto a ridge in the fog. I guarantee that you will get soaking wet.
Thank you for your support during our amazing Spring Pledge Drive and for your patience.
