From the messy desk of Amanda Eichstaedt…
You heard it here first!
Once again we have updates to the KWMR programming. It seems like almost weekly another opportunity presents itself for tweaking, rearranging, and refining. So, here is what you might discover as you surf the KWMR airwaves.
If you have not checked out “The Coffee and Whiskey Hour” hosted by Danny Montana and Darren Nelson, it is every other Monday (next one is Monday, December 18). It’s a fun morning ramble of tunes and talk to start your week off. Also on Monday’s starting up soon is a new rotation for “Monday Mix,” which includes the host of “Echoplex” along with Patrick Kleeman, Amanda Eichstaedt, and joining the mix is Ian McMurray. Woot!
With Alyssa Tanner’s move to Massachusettes, things are switching up on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM. You still get your monthly dose of reggea with “Bashment Radio,” but a new, yet to be named show featuring Jesse Lumb (formerly of Radio Killed the Video Star) and Point Reyes Librarian Simon Woodard will hit that spot once a month on the 3rd Tuesday. DJ Charlie V of “Sufferin’ Jukebox” will be hosting his show (formerly on Sunday evenings at 6 PM) on the remaining Tuesdays. Should be a fun line-up.
My “The Lowdown” is finding a good cadence every Wednesday at 9 AM, featuring some familiar interviews, including Indivisible West Marin, History With Dewey, SURJ Marin, and West Marin Senior Services. Jeff is holding down every Wednesday at 8 AM with “Curio Cabinet” for now. And Dave Cook is becoming an ace engineer for “Fish Tales.” If you have not tuned in to “Cute Radio” on Wednesdays at 11 AM, you might want to, just be sure you are in a place where you can comfortably and safely get up and dance.
On Thursdays “Morning Mike” and “It’s Time Now” alternate with “Top of the Morning,” but the rest of the day is holding steady. Same with Fridays through the weekend, with the exception of “Sufferin’ Jukebox” move to Tuesday and our local “Celtic Universe” hosts (Ken, Lyons, and Loretta) in steady three week rotation. Kerry Livingston has renamed her Turning Pages spot, it is now called “Connecting Through Story.”
Janet Robbins, who will be spending some time away, has retired (for now) from the Monday “Turning Pages at Nature’s Pace” spot. Lyons Filmer will hold down the fort for now. We will miss Janet and hope to coax her back to the airwaves periodically in the future! Be sure to catch Janet’s “Classical Friday” this week.
“Youth DJ” is going strong and the energy produced by the youth from the Tomales Bay Youth Ceneter and “Chicken Strips” is downright infectious. KWMR loves having youth on the air waves!
You can always find the KWMR Printable Schedule HERE. It makes a great fridge ornament!

Waylon chillin’ at our place. He’s ready to learn! photo: AE
On Saturday, we dropped off Waylon to his trainer, where he will be spending time with her, her family, and her dog until January 3rd. It was great to meet her and check out his “Boot Camp” digs. It’s a pretty nice situation to learn new behaviors.
It was strange to drive away and to not have the lad underfoot around the place. Of course, training of the humans is next on the docket, so that we can reinforce his newly learned skills.
We are getting updates from Teri and hope that he is not half as much missing us, as we are him. I have taken the opportunity by saving the time to not walk the dog, to diligently get back to working on my finger calluses by dinking around with my guitar.
I will be interviewing Teri the trainer in January for a full reveal of how things went.
As you make your end of year giving decisions please consider supporting KWMR. We will use each cent wisely. Thank you in advance, and to everyone who has contributed to community radio over this past year.
