A Comedy of Errors

(hopefully not my typos)

From the messy desk of Amanda Eichstaedt

Straight out of Wikipedia (with a few changes):

The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of San Francisco and his servant, Dromio of San Francisco, arrive in Inverness, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Inverness and his servant, Dromio of Inverness. When the San Franciscans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Inverness, and false accusations of theft, madness, and demonic possession.

Seamus and Matt. Check out the vidio at the link below.

Imagine yourself sitting on a bleacher in Inverness with a picnic on a beautiful summer day (which means it could either be hot, or very cold, or maybe just warm) at St. Columba’s. You have your layers, your hats (both a beanie, and one that shades from the sun), and you are surrounded by community members there for the same reason.

A Comedy of Errors begins and you, and your fellow audience members laugh along with, and at the antics of your friends and neighbors, who under the direction of producer and director Sharron Drake*, have put in hours to bring you this performance.

The initial goal has been met, but expenses abound, and your contributions help make this type of theatrical magic possible. A new stage is needed since the old one, pummeled by the rains, baked in the sun, and trampled by many an actor, needs to be replaced. Safety first!

There are five performances in all. August 26th and 27th and then three on Labor Day Weekend, September 2, 3 & 4.  All performances start at 4 PM (hence your possible need of both sunblock and a puffy jacket). You can snag advance tickets HERE (and watch the video, it’s pretty great), in fact, this is the BEST WAY to secure your seat. Just fund the Kickstarter (and choose tickets!), and your name will be on the list! We certainly don’t want Sharron wrestling with those cats at Brown Paper Tickets again (although I’m sure tickets will be available for sale closer to the performance). Why wait?

A Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare’s shortest and silliest (my word) plays. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of lines to be memorized by Matt Gallagher and Seamus Tomkins, who will play the leading roles of the identical twins. The rest of the cast includes Geoff Hoyle*, Jim Griffiths, Muniera Kadrie, Gene Ptak, Pamela Putch*, Alison Strahan*, Mary Clare McCauley, Kristen Proepper, Camilla Ford, Leon Goertzen*, Simon Woodard, and Ehren Epstien. And yup, I’m in it, too. Continuing my two year streak after a 35 year hiatus from acting.

Live theatre is where it’s at right now!

People with asterisks by their names –  *Member, Actors’ Equity Association. This production is produced under the auspices of the Actors’ Equity Association Members’ Project Code.

Looking forward to hanging out with this stellar group of actors! See you at the play!
