Happy Valentine’s Day

Roses are red
Violets are blue…

Tis the season of martyrdom, love, and little heart shaped message candies. The history of Valentine’s Day is interesting and it is celebrated all over the world.

I remember really well that feeling in elementary school when you would have your shoebox, decorated, and a stack of little cards to distribute to your pals in the class. Kids would roam around delivering their valentines, inserting them into the shoeboxes around the classroom. It always seemed to me to be a very egalitarian holiday, and quickly became my favorite. I associated it with friendship, more than romance. And there was always sugar, lots of sugar.

I think I made one for every kid, and never really kept track if I got one from every kid. I have aways liked the shape of hearts. The eight of hearts is my favorite playing card. It is sort of a valentine all unto itself.

I even used to make and send valentines in February instead of holiday cards. I have not done so in a while, but maybe in 2024!

In case you missed it, I had the opportunity to catch up with Liberacha last Friday on Happy Hour. The interview and host of Burt Bacharach tunes ensue during the second hour of the program. Archive HERE. There is, of course, NOTHING boring about what LIberacha is up to these days.

And my hat is off to Program Director Jeff Manson for his hard work bringing on 8 new programmers to KWMR over the last several months. I suggest that if you are in a KWMR rut (listening to the same programs all the time), you give the schedule a perusal and see what some of the new shows have to offer. They are all just great and are a compliment to the already amazing existing programming on KWMR!

A few words to the readers about KWMR.

KWMR did receive some feedback regarding bringing listeners updated information regarding the recent power outage that affected Inverness Park, Inverness and a large part of the Point Reyes peninsula. KWMR does not normally do ongoing announcements about power outages. We have no real way to know when power will be restored beyond what residents who report an outage would receive from PGE via phone or text alerts. The roads were open, and PGE was working on restoring power, it was just a matter of time. You are unlikely to hear updates on area power outages on KWMR unless they are associated with a road closure or other ongoing issue. This is a great link to save: https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/outagecenter/ and you can always call in an outage to PGE 1-877-660-6789.

Thank you for your feedback!

The KWMR team has begin to work on our Spring Pledge Drive antics, er, I mean Game Plan. it’s going to be fun! We only do two Pledge Drive’s per year, spring and fall. It should be a rollicking good time! Save the dates: March 23 through April 6. Fourteen fun-filled days!

On this blustery February 14, we hope that the power stays on, and that each and every one of you has a great day!
