Wanna Joint?

Ok, for starters, sorry about last week, or maybe it should be “Your welcome.” Many typos. It was a scramble of a week, attempting to fit 4 days of work into 2 1/2 days. Let’s just say, some things suffered. And for heaven’s sake! George Clyde produced the West Marin Report, not the West Marin Review. Doh.

Perhaps the cow did not fall into the trench, but was already dead prior to, or perhaps during the shaking of the 1906 earthquake. Does anyone know for sure? And thank you to the cartographer that offered to help get Drake’s Estero more realistically rendered on the new Epicenter map. We’ll take you up on that! We are many things here at KWMR, but cartographers we are not.

My mom got a new hip. That is why I was away. So many replaced joints in West Marin! My mom is not in West Marin, but I have heard from so many of you that you have a replaced knee, hip, shoulder, etc. Very impressive to see folks ambling around after major replacements, with hopefully less pain and more mobility. Modern science is really something! Just the fact that a person can be up waking around so soon after major surgery is impressive as all get out! So here’s to new joints! If you’ve got one, two, or more, I salute you!

Speaking of new, have any of you checked out any of KWMR’s newest programs? They are so good! Such an interesting selection of tunes on the music shows, and great interviews and information on the talk shows. New shows are indicated with NEW in the highlights.

And this is not to discount any of our existing programs, so many great shows on KWMR. If you find yourself only listening at specific times, I encourage you to branch out and see what Program Director Jeff Manson has managed to fit into the crowded KWMR airspace. I am thoroughly encouraged by everything that is happening at KWMR!

Sunday night DJ Charles V. brought us right into the world of Tom Villaine on the “Sufferin’ Jukebox” with a wonderful tribute, archive HERE. Then DJ Clockwatch celebrated Valentine’s Day early on “Clockwatchers”, archive HERE. We cannot believe that the Sunday Celebration crew, which includes “Second Breakfast” and “Earth Baby Radio,” is no longer new. They have been on the air for a whole YEAR! What?!! I guess time does fly when you are having fun. And Monday a new show “Echoplex” hosted by a mystery DJ sported a wonderful mix of jazz and other tunes. Archive HERE. Hard to believe that “Night Beat,” archive HERE with Ananda Brady has been on the air since last April!

Did you know that KWMR still has shows that were on the airwaves when KWMR started in the old red (now green) barn in Point Reyes Station? Shows include “Turning Pages at Natures Pace” hosted by Lyons Filmer and Janet Robbins, “Coast Highway Blues” hosted by Larry Rippee, “Sonic Sunspots” hosted by Tony Palmer, “Fish Tales” hosted by David Cook, as well as “Shorty’s Bunkhouse” hosted by Shorty, and “Off the Cuff” with Anthony Consani. “Silver Dollar Jukebox” is another long-time show on KWMR. (I’m sure I will hear if I missed one….or two)

We celebrate our historic shows (KWMR started as an FM station in 1999), and welcome all newcomers! The newest addition is “African Dreams” (Archive) which will be on every Sunday, alternating with Marcie Judelson and Dave Radlauer from 12-2 PM.

You can check out the updated print schedule HERE.
