Wednesday, May 30 – First Muir Beach Fire Chief Retires After 40 Years posted May 30 at 5AM

At the Annual Barbecue Sunday, the Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department Celebrated its 40th Anniversary and the Retirement of its First Fire Chief.  After four decades, retiring Chief John Sward tells Brenda Kohn about the early 1970s, when he was chosen as the first fire chief.  Starting with a 20-year-old fire truck and hand-me-down gear, the volunteer group has developed into a well trained professional fire department, now headed by Chief Steve Wynn.
