It's a Whole New Ballgame for Candidates and Voters in West Marin as Districts Have Changed and Open Primaries Get First Test  KWMR's Herb Kutchins tells George Clyde about the changes and what it may mean for the June primary elections in West Marin. This week he begins a new half-hour weekly program on KWMR's "Open House"  Wednesdays at 5:00 PM, where he interviews candidates for the Congressional and State Assembly races and other key players in the upcoming election.

Finally, a Place in West Marin to Drop Off Green Waste as a New Composting Operation at Lafranchi Dairy in Nicasio Opens Soon  Kevin Lunny, whose company is in charge of the operation, tells George Clyde about the new facility, which blends dairy manure from the Lafranchi dairy, horse manure from local stables and green waste to create organic compost fertilizer.  Rick Lafranchi will use the compost for bedding for his cows to save money and carbon emissions.  Links for West Marin Compost <under construction - call (415) 662 9849> and further information.

Inverness Ridge Residential Additions and Nicasio Cell Phone Tower Up for Deputy Zoning Administrator Hearings Tomorrow  While the Scarpulla additions in Inverness are not controversial, the Nicasio Design Review Board has taken exception to the AT&T proposal to erect a 55 foot cell phone antenna, disguised as a pine tree, on the Bonty Ranch near the corner of Lucas Valley Road and Nicasio Valley Road.  George Clyde reports. About 100 Gathered at the West Marin School for an Art Rogers Group Portrait Sunday  Main Street Moms and Pat Healy invited the group of young and old that included Congressional candidate Norman Solomon.  The crowd posed for the camera before the weekly "Take Back Pt. Reyes" protest event at Wells Fargo Bank.  Rogers discussed the photo, the crowd and the protests with George Clyde.  The photo will appear in this Thursday's edition of the Pt. Reyes Light.

Candidate Robert Ovetz Complains to Fair Political Practices Commission in His Campaign to Unseat Trustees Richard Sloan or Denise Santa Cruz-Bohman in Contentious Lagunitas School Board Race  KWMR's George Clyde interviews West Marin Citizen reporter Lynn Axelrod about the complaint against Sloan, as well as the contentious candidates' night moderated by eighth graders and a proposal by Ovetz for a real estate transfer fee to benefit the district.

Researchers Try Burning Test Plots of Showy Indian Clover  Rare plant ecologist Diana Immel and Pt. Reyes National Seashore fire ecologist Alison Forrestel tell George Clyde why they are setting fire to the test plots of the endangered plant, which was last reported growing in the Park area about 100 years ago.  The ultimate objective of the research at the Historic D Ranch is to reintroduce a sustainable population in the Park.  More information here.
