KWMR Bolinas Translator Installation

The antenna reaches Don at the the top of the pole. The pipe to which the antenna will be clamped has already been mounted to the pole.

After the first phase of installation on the pole we had to prepare the coaxial cable. When it came time to heat the shrink tubing to make a seal we realized that all we had was this pitiful 1950's vintage "which twin has the Toni" hair dryer. Needless to say it was useless.

So, in a highly unorthodox move, we brought the toaster oven downstairs from the lunch room and tried to use it to shrink the tubing.

Luckily, just before inspectors from the radio engineer's society showed up, an innocent bystander supplied a torch allowing Don and Chris to complete the job in a less embarrassing manner.

With the coaxial cable in place we mounted and connected the isocoupler. The mounting was fabricated by Jerry, Chris and Zorro.

And here it is, the Bolinas translator and auxiliary equipment, all wired up and mounted in the locking cabinet.

To all the folks who worked so hard on this project, to all the listeners who waited so long to hear KWMR in Boloinas and Stinson Beach we offer thanks for your patience, your dedication to community radio and your unshakable belief in KWMR.
